More than two centuries ago, Montpellier witnessed the passing of Charles Bonaparte, the father of a son who would soon send shockwaves through Europe.
This winter, the Emperor returns to the Écusson—in virtual reality.
From November 4, 2026, to February 28, 2027, the event will take place at 1 rue Voltaire in Montpellier, in the heart of the Écusson district.
As soon as you enter, a museum exhibit immerses you in the Empire: faithfully reproduced bicorn hats and shakos, infantry uniforms, costumes worn during major reenactments of Napoleonic battles, pieces of equipment, and objects inspired by the imperial era. Before you experience history firsthand, you’ll see it with your own eyes.
Then you put on the virtual reality headset, and the19th century unfolds before you.
