Pierre-André Miquel
Child of Béziers in the heart of France
On this day, let it be remembered by the faithful of the Empire:
Born in Béziers on January 20, 1762, a son of this Languedoc land destined for arms and honor:
Pierre-André Miquel, general of the Revolution and the Empire.
When his country was threatened, he answered the call.
First serving under the flag of the Republic, then in the service of the Emperor, he rose through the ranks thanks to his courage, discipline, and loyalty.
Witness to the upheavals of a new century, he embodied a generation of men forged by revolutionary turmoil and elevated by merit, according to the principle dear to Napoleon: "
" "A career open to talent."
Returning to his hometown, he passed away in Béziers on March 5, 1819, leaving behind the example of an officer from the people who became a general through the sheer force of his commitment.
🎖 Béziers can be proud to have given France one of its generals.
And it is with pride that we remember his name today, so that local history can join the greater history.
